An 11-year-old boy presented with symptoms of mania during lockdown including elevated mood, increased speech, and decreased need for sleep, which were exacerbated by family stressors and limitations during lockdown. He was initially diagnosed with schizophrenia but his diagnosis was changed to early-onset bipolar affective disorder. With treatment including medication and family psychoeducation, his symptoms improved and he returned to his pre-morbid level of functioning.
