1) The study evaluated changes in state anxiety, state anger, and heart rate in healthy women and men after exposure to unpleasant pictures from the IAPS compared to neutral pictures. 2) Women experienced greater increases in state anxiety and state anger after viewing unpleasant pictures compared to men. Women also had a higher average heart rate during unpleasant picture exposure. 3) The results suggest that women are more sensitive and react more strongly to unpleasant visual stimuli compared to men.
