Arthur von Oettingen (1836–1920) was a Baltic German physicist and music theorist known for his work in acoustical relationships and the concept of harmonic dualism. He studied at the University of Dorpat and later became a professor at the University of Leipzig, where he contributed to meteorology and music theory. Oettingen is also recognized for creating the Orthotonophonium and introducing the millioctave measurement of musical intervals.
