This document summarizes a study of microfacies and microfossils in the Sinjar Formation in Kurdistan Region, northeast Iraq. Two sections were analyzed - the 135m thick Hazar Merd Section and the 75m thick Qazan Section. 368 samples were collected from the sections. Microscopic analysis of around 400 thin sections allowed conclusions about facies succession, micropaleontological content, age, and paleoenvironment reconstruction of the Sinjar Formation.
