This thesis describes developing a program in MATLAB to find an optimal power flow that minimizes generation costs while satisfying voltage constraints. The program models a power network, calculates power flows using a bus admittance matrix and Gauss-Seidel iteration. It then uses the MATLAB Optimization Toolbox to solve for optimal power flow via constrained minimization.
