What is Constitutive Endocytosis in Characean Internodal Cells Is Independent of an Intact Actin Cytoskeleton about?

## Abstract We have investigated constitutive endocytosis in internodal cells of the characean green algae. The endocytic tracer FM1‐43 accumulated in distinct plasma membrane domains that are probably enriched in sterol‐like substances. Internalization of the dye was active but independent of an intact actin or microtubule cytoskeleton.
