What is Coefficient of Friction in V-Belts about?

This experiment aimed to determine the coefficient of friction of a V-belt through measuring the tension on both sides of the belt (T1 and T2) when wrapped around pulleys at different angles (θ). T1 and T2 were recorded at θ of 30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, and 150° as the belt was tightened. Graphs of T1 vs T2 and ln(T1/T2) vs θ showed a linear relationship as expected. The coefficient of friction was calculated using the equation μθ = ln(T1/T2)sin(β/2) and determined to be 0.018.
