What is Back Matter about?

## THE AMERICAN SCHOOL OF CLASSICAL STUDIES AT ATHENS was founded for graduate students by the Archaeological Institute of America in 1881. In 1886 it was organized as a corporation under the laws of the State of Massachusetts. It is supported in part by the co-operation of leading American Universities and Colleges, in part by the income of endowment funds. No charge for tuition is made to graduates of the supporting institutions. The School library contains about ten thousand carefully selected volumes. The Gennadius library, accessible to the students, contains about fifty thousand items. The permanent staff of the School consists of Director GORHAM PHILLIPS STEVENS; Assistant Director ARTHUR PARSONS; SHIRLEY WEBER, Professor of Classics; OSCAR BRONEER, Professor of Archaeology. This staff is usually supplemented by an annual and a visiting professor appointed from the faculties of the contributing institutions in America. Three fellowships (two School fellowships and the Institute fellowship) with a stipend of $1300.00 each are usually awarded annually on examination.
