Awakening to languages (AL) is a didactic approach rooted in language awareness movement. Findings suggest that contact with linguistic diversity may play an important role in the development of metalinguistic skills conducive to literacy and language learning. Participants in the study consisted of 21 Portuguese preschool children, aged 3 to 6.
