This convention paper investigates how the acoustic mass and resistance of bass reflex loudspeaker ports vary with drive level, and how port geometry affects this variation. Six different port designs were tested, including straight, bent, and flared ports. Measurements showed that acoustic mass remained essentially constant with drive level, while acoustic resistance increased similarly to how port compression and noise increased.
