RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) combines multiple disk drive components into a logical unit to provide data redundancy, performance improvements, or both. There are different RAID levels that provide varying balances of redundancy, performance, and storage capacity. RAID levels distribute and replicate data across physical disks using techniques like disk striping, mirroring, and parity to provide fault tolerance and/or increased I/O performance. Common RAID levels include RAID 0, 1, 5 and 6.
