What is Drug Clearance in Pharmacokinetics about?

The kidney is crucial for drug elimination from the body. Clearance is defined as the rate of drug elimination divided by the drug concentration in blood or plasma. Drug elimination follows first-order kinetics, where the fraction of the drug eliminated per unit time is constant. For first-order kinetics, the amount of drug given is directly proportional to the rate of elimination. Steady state is reached when 95% of a dose is eliminated.
