What is José Rizal: Life and Legacy about?
José Rizal was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and revolutionary. He was born in 1861 in Calamba, Philippines and attended several universities in Manila, Madrid, Paris, and Heidelberg where he earned degrees in medicine. Rizal was a prolific writer and authored two novels that criticized Spanish rule in the Philippines and inspired nationalist sentiments. He was executed by firing squad in 1896 at the age of 35, which ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule.
