About this document

D and F Block Elements: Key Questions by A. 43 Rahul Kumar is a document available to read on EtoBox.

1. Transition metals have high melting and boiling points. They also have high enthalpies of atomization and tend to be inert in their chemical reactions. 2. Transition metals show a variety of oxidation states. For example, Cr3+ is more stable than Cr2+, and Cu2+ is more stable in solution than Cu+. 3. The E0 values, which indicate oxidation potential, vary across the transition metals and their ions. For instance, the E0 value for Mn3+/Mn2+ is more positive than for Cr3+/Cr2+ or Fe3+/Fe2+.
