What is 5th RCT about?

This study compares goal-directed fluid therapy (GDT) using oesophageal Doppler monitoring with restrictive fluid therapy in elective major colorectal surgery within an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery program. The results show that while GDT led to greater intraoperative fluid volumes and improved stroke volume indices, there was no significant difference in length-of-stay or complication rates between the two groups. Thus, the benefits of GDT may not translate into improved patient outcomes in this context
