Children with well-controlled asthma enrolled in a comprehensive asthma management program were found to have similar rates of anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem as healthy children without asthma. The study compared scores on validated psychological scales between 70 asthma patients and 70 healthy controls matched for age, gender, and socioeconomic status.
