What is Effort Trial about?
The EFFORT trial evaluated the efficacy of ertugliflozin in reducing functional mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with heart failure and mildly to moderately reduced ejection fraction. Results showed that ertugliflozin significantly decreased the effective regurgitant orifice area and improved left ventricular global longitudinal strain compared to placebo. The findings suggest that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors may be beneficial for managing functional MR in heart failure patients.
