This study explores a CRISPR/Cas9-mediated strategy for developing tomato plants resistant to the Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV). Five Cas9-expressing constructs were tested, with three successfully disrupting the viral genome and showing reduced viral titres and mild symptoms compared to positive controls. The research demonstrates the potential of CRISPR/Cas9 technology for enhancing resistance against viral infections in crops, achieving a transformation efficiency of 30% in tomato plants.
