This study investigates the impact of the High School Equalization Policy (HSEP) in South Korea on educational inequality, focusing on the separation of low and high socioeconomic status (SES) students and its relation to student achievement. Findings indicate that HSEP implementation reduces the odds of low SES students being placed in low SES schools compared to non-HSEP regions, and that student achievement is less dependent on school socioeconomic composition in HSEP regions.
