What is Role of Tonal Coherence in Neural Synchronization To Meter about?

This study investigates how competing grouping patterns and tonal coherence influence neural synchronization to musical meter. Findings indicate that melodic repetition enhances neural synchronization to metrical groupings, while disrupting tonal coherence reduces neural responses. Behavioral data show a preference for quaternary over ternary groupings, highlighting the complex interactions between auditory cues and cognitive processes in music perception.
