What is Natural Resource Rents and Human Development in Africa about?

This study analyzes the effects of natural resource rents on human development in selected African countries from 1996-2019. The results show that total natural resource rents have a negative effect on human development, though this is mitigated by food imports. Individual resource rents have differing effects - forestry and natural gas rents positively impact human development while oil and coal rents have negative effects.
