This study examined the negative effects of online game playing on the academic performance of 154 high school students in the Philippines. The students completed a survey assessing time spent playing online games as well as perceived impacts on assignments, tests, class participation and exams. The results found that students who played online games spent an average of 2.14 hours per day playing and had moderate negative effects on their academic performance.
