In-situ electrochemical polymerization of polypyrrole on LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode with improved performance for lithium-ion batteries by Haolong Nie; Chaoqun Shang; Pu Hu; Yajie Li is a Materials Science article available to read on EtoBox.
What is In-situ electrochemical polymerization of polypyrrole on LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode with improved performance for lithium-ion batteries about?
Ni-rich LiNi 0.8 Co 0.1 Mn 0.1 O 2 (NCM811) is considered a promising cathode material due to its high energy density and relatively low cost. However, the severe capacity fading due to interfacial instability still needs to be addressed to improve the electrochemical performance. Herein, we introduce a conductive polypyrrole (PPy) layer on the surface of the NCM811 cathode (NCM811@PPy) via in-situ polymerization to stabilize the cathodic interface. Compared with the NCM811 cathode, NCM811@PPy presents higher reversible capacity (175.3 mA h g -1 ) and capacity retention (90.7 %) after 100 cycles. This work provides an efficient way to modify Ni-rich cathode for high-energy batteries.
