What is Evolution of Softball Rules and History about?

Softball developed from baseball and was first played indoors in 1887 at a Harvard-Yale football game. The game soon spread and different versions with varying rules emerged. In 1926 it was officially named softball, and the Amateur Softball Association was founded in 1933 to standardize rules. Softball became hugely popular in the US in the 1930s and has since spread internationally, becoming an Olympic sport until being removed in 2012.
