This study aimed to identify feather mites on birds in the Brazilian Cerrado. The researchers captured and sampled 696 birds from 83 species and 25 families at Fazenda Água Limpa in the Distrito Federal, Brazil between January and August 2002. They found feather mites belonging to five families on the birds. The family Proctophyllodidae and genus Pterodectes were the most prevalent groups collected. Considering all captured birds, the prevalence of feather mites was 44.98%.
