What is Learning Image Similarity via Flickr Groups about?

This paper proposes measuring image similarity by learning from Flickr image groups. It trains classifiers to predict whether images belong to different Flickr groups, and uses the classifier responses as features to calculate image similarity. It also introduces a novel fast training algorithm called SIKMA that can train kernel SVM classifiers on large datasets in minutes, which enables efficiently learning from the large amounts of data available on Flickr.
