What is Beginner about?

This document provides instructions for constructing a planked shield using modern materials. The shield is made from two layers of thin wood planks glued together to form the core. The front is then covered with cloth glued in place. Rawhide is attached around the edge to reinforce it and holes are drilled and sewn through. Finally, a metal boss is attached to complete the shield.
