## Abstract The kinetics of sodium‐dependent L‐(U‐^14^C)alanine influx into the integument of __Glycera dibranchiata__ were studied __in vitro__ utilizing lucite influx chambers. __Glycera__ integument accumulated alanine via two distinct sodiumcoupled carrier mediated systems which are described by similar kinetic equations. The coupling coefficient determined by graphical analysis was equal to 3 for each influx system. Both systems share a common K~t~ = 8.6 × 10^−5^ M alanine which was not affected by sodium concentration. However, each system possessed dissimilar maximal influx values that were sensitive to sodium concentration. A model is presented describing the molecular events of sodium‐coupled alanine transport by the integumentary epithelial cell membrane of __Glycera__.
