About this document

Understanding Negative Sequence Current by waleed mohi is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Negative sequence current in generators arises from unbalanced loads and induces double frequency currents in the generator rotor. This causes rapid heating that can damage the rotor through loss of mechanical integrity or insulation failure within seconds. Modern generator protection relays can detect a wider range of unbalance conditions compared to older electromechanical relays, protecting generators from potentially damaging low-current negative sequence conditions.
