Fungi can be either microscopic like yeasts and molds or macroscopic like mushrooms. They have cell walls made of chitin and reproduce both sexually through spores or asexually through budding or fragmentation. Fungi can cause diseases in humans called mycotoxicoses through ingestion of toxic substances called mycotoxins produced by fungi like Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Amanita mushrooms. Mycotoxicoses symptoms range from liver damage and cancer to neurological effects and even death.
