This exploratory qualitative study investigates the perceptions of German nurses regarding their knowledge, roles, and experiences in national disaster preparedness and emergency response. Conducted through semi-structured interviews with 13 qualified nurses across various hospitals, the study identifies 17 themes related to these perceptions. The findings highlight the need for improved disaster nursing education and training to better prepare nurses for future emergencies.
