What is New Insights on Sungir Burial Chronology about?

This study revisits the Sungir site, a key Upper Paleolithic burial complex in central Russia, providing new radiocarbon dating and stratigraphic data. The findings reveal that the burials date to approximately 28,800–30,140 BP, despite previous contamination issues affecting earlier dating attempts. The research emphasizes the importance of eliminating contamination in future dating efforts to better understand the chronology and cultural context of the site.
