This study investigated the effects of teaching mimetic relations prior to matching-to-sample tasks on establishing stimulus classes of signs, pictures, and printed words, and generating untaught tact and textual responses in children with and without hearing impairments. Five 5-year old children, two of whom were deaf, participated. The study used a multiple baseline design across three groups of three words to teach mimetic relations, then use mimetic responses in matching-to-sample to establish stimulus
