About this document
Immediate Hypersensitivity Reactions Explained by Dhila Safirina is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Immediate hypersensitivity reactions are mediated by immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies produced by TH2 cells. Upon reexposure to an allergen, IgE binds to mast cells and basophils, causing them to release chemical mediators that produce allergic symptoms. Mediators include histamine, leukotrienes, cytokines, and others. Symptoms vary by organ system but can include hives, asthma, rhinitis, and potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis.
