What is Victory Over Mountains about?

"Too often, the tragedies in our lives cause us to make a detour from our dreams. Jessie Davis is an alcoholic, but she has big dreams for herself. She wants to become a doctor. She interrupts the church service when she staggers up the aisle singing an old love song. She does a little dance step here and there until she reaches the pew where she sits every Sunday. She is raising her nephew and niece, Clarence and Clarisa, who are very embarrassed. Clarence believes that something must have happened in Aunt Jessie's life to cause her to drink as much as she does. Clarisa, on the other hand, does not care what her problem is. She just wants Aunt Jessie to stop spending the money from their social security checks at Ms. Mildred's speakeasy. Ten-year-old Roe Roe is put out of the house by his mother every weekend to stay over at Ms. Jessie's apartment because her boyfriend from New York does not like him. Walter Harris loves Jessie, but she knows that he will not marry her because of her drinking habit."--Amazon.com
