What is Origins and Evolution of Basketball about?

The document describes the history of basketball, including its creation by Dr. James Naismith in 1891 in Massachusetts. Naismith invented the game to keep students active during the winter, placing two fruit baskets at the ends of the gym and giving instructions to shoot a soccer ball into them. The game quickly became popular and spread throughout North America, with rules that have continued to evolve since then.
