This study retrospectively analyzed 75 cases of splenic abscess treated between 1999-2009 at a tertiary hospital in India. Patients were divided into 3 groups based on treatment: antibiotics only (Group I, n=14), percutaneous drainage (Group II, n=19), or splenectomy (Group III, n=42). The most common presenting symptoms were fever (89%) and abdominal pain (84%). Diabetes was the most common predisposing factor (27%).
