What is and [Cu44Se22(PnButBu2)12]: Synthesis and Structure of Two Copper Clusters with Isomeric CuSe Frameworks about?

## COMMUNICATIONS [12] on a Vax computer wa? used for all calculations. To take advantage of noncrystallographic symmetry introduced by chemically identical moities, the structure was refined with the SHELX-93 software package [13] (F' refincinents). The 12 pyridarinea. the 12 methylpyridincs, the 9 tritlate anions. and the 5 nitromethane molecules w'ere refined as identical. rigid groups (0 of equivalent bond lengths: 0.03 A). the geometriev were taken from ref. [K], [XI. (141. and [15], respectively. The pyridaine and methylpyridine groups were restrained to be planar within 0.2 A These restraints reduced the number of variables in the retinement to 624. this takes i n l o account the poor observed data:ine;isured data ratio and hence the low diffrxtion power oi'the cr All hydrogen atoms were omitred. Final R ( F ) = 0.109. Ftirrher details crystal structure investigation are available on rcquest from the Director ofthe Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre, 12 Union Road.
