Can I read Jahn‐Teller Theory of the Ti^3+^ Ion in Corundum on EtoBox?

Jahn‐Teller Theory of the Ti^3+^ Ion in Corundum by R. Rai is a Physics and Astronomy article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Jahn‐Teller Theory of the Ti^3+^ Ion in Corundum about?

## Abstract The apparent reductions in the trigonal field and spin‐orbit interactions in Ti^3+^ ion doped in Al~2~O~3~ is explained to be due to the presence of a moderate Jahn‐Teller effect. The spin‐orbit, trigonal field, and a part of the Jahn‐Teller interaction which causes three equivalent oscillations along the three pseudo‐fourfold axes of the complex, are treated on equal footing. The effect of the tunnelling through the potential barriers between these equivalent oscillations is considered as a perturbation. The resulting ground wave functions are used to calculate the EPR __g__‐values. The theoretical values are compared with the experimental magnetic and spectroscopic results.
