What is Ambedkar about?

Dr. Ambedkar analyzed the caste system of Hindu society from an anthropological perspective. He believed caste originated from the superimposition of endogamy on exogamy. Caste divides people despite a shared culture. Dr. Ambedkar suffered greatly from untouchability as a young man and in his career. He saw Buddhism as a means to establish a just, democratic social system based on liberty, equality and fraternity without caste.
