The equilibrium between a tetrahedral and an octahedral nickel(U) thiocyanate complex was studied spectmphotometrically in molten dimethylsulphone. The effects of variation of tempemture and concentrations of the cations, K' and BUN, on the equilibrium were determined. The results indicate that there is a complex interaction between the coordination sphere and the outer cationic sphere and that the heat of reaction is dependent on the relative concentrations of the two cations
