Dr. Tomas Streyer conducted a particle accelerator experiment that caused the sun to disappear from the sky for 20 minutes and the night sky to lose its stars. When the stars did not return, Streyer was put on trial for "stealing the stars" and sentenced to work at an observatory in Chile. After nearly 9 years of observing the night sky, Streyer saw the first star, Alpha Centauri, reappear, supporting his theory that his experiment created a wave of darkness that was passing through the universe.
