Albert Einstein was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. He was born in Germany in 1879 and studied physics and mathematics in Switzerland, later working at a patent office in Bern. During this time, Einstein produced much of his remarkable work, including his special theory of relativity in 1905 and general theory of relativity in 1916.
