Studies investigating the consolidation of lasting memory traces have focused to a large degree on conditions that disrupt retention. It is clear that retrograde amnesia can be produced by a variety of experimental treatments administered posttraining . More importantly, susceptibility to retrograde amnesia has been conserved in evolution.
