Field Effect Transistors (FETs) are voltage-controlled devices with three terminals: source, drain, and gate, and can be classified into JFETs and MOSFETs. FETs have advantages over Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) such as higher input resistance and better signal-to-noise ratio, but they also have limitations like a smaller gain-bandwidth product. Applications of FETs include use as amplifiers, switches, protection diodes, current limiters, and in mixers and oscillators.
