This oral epic from the Kuruba community in parts of southern India preserves their cultural traditions and collective experiences over generations. Sung by the reputed singer Siddappa Meti and his associates, it is about 23,250 lines long and features two heroes, Beerappa and Maalingaraya, along with many inset stories. Unlike other similar epics, it is entirely in verse and identifies the singer at the end of each unit, with the narrative told through the rhythm of a small drum instead of other instrument
