Amon Goeth was born in Vienna in 1922 and joined Nazi youth groups as a teenager before joining the SS in 1930. He fled to Germany after being pursued for crimes involving explosives. In 1942, he was posted to Aktion Reinhard and became the commandant of the Plaszow forced labor camp in Poland, where he was responsible for the deaths of around 8,000 inmates through executions and poor conditions.
