What is Crime Out of Mind about?

CRIME OUT OF MIND was published in the February 1946 issue of The Shadow Magazine. A night-club mind-reader sees all, knows all, tells all. But he's telling a little too much. Some of the things he reveals are being used to commit a diabolical series of crimes. A series of crimes that only The Shadow can thwart. Lamont Cranston is an amateur magician, as we learned in "Murder By Magic" an earlier Shadow novel. He is a member of the Universal Wizards Association, an organization of fellow magicians both amateur and professional. In this story, we meet other members of the group including The Great Planchini, fortune teller and mystic; Val Varno, the sleight-of-hand king; and Glanville Frost, magic's great creative mind. The Great Planchini is performing in the Crystal Room of the Chateau Parkview, one of New York's swankiest hotels. He is amazing audiences with his mind-reading act.
