What is Preface about?
The volume is divided into two major sections, i.e. invited papers and contributed papers. The latter section is further divided into eight subsections: applications of nanotubes, adsorption properties into nanotubes, nanotubes to be used as tips for scanning probe microscopies and field emission sources, theories, physical properties, growth mechanisms, multi-wall nanotubes and fibers, and non-carbon nanotubes. We wish to thank all the participants who contributed to the success of the symposium. We also would like to thank the referees for their special efforts which made the early publication of this volume possible. Lastly, we wish to express our special thanks to Ms. Chie Saito of JST-ICORP for her assistance in organizing this volume.
