A transistor is a semiconductor device that can amplify or switch electronic signals and power. It has three terminals - an emitter that emits electrons, a base that controls the flow of electrons, and a collector that collects electrons. There are two main types: NPN transistors where the current flows from negative to positive to negative terminals, and PNP transistors where the current flows from positive to negative to positive terminals.
